World Pangolin Day 2022

Pangolin Trafficking in Nigeria: The Way Out

The Pangolin Research Group of the University of Lagos Nigeria is hosting a virtual conference themed, “Pangolin Trafficking in Nigeria: The Way Out,” to mark World Pangolin Day 2022. Attendees to the conference on February 19 will include researchers, scientists, and other professionals working in the field of conservation working to protect this critically endangered species.

Drs. Kevin Njabo, Jen Tinsman, and Cristian Gruppi with the Center of Tropical Research at the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability will present talks during the conference’s technical session. The Center for Tropical Research is currently using genomics and other innovative approaches to build an origin-to-destination tracking system for giant pangolins trafficked from sub-Saharan Africa to Asia.
